It's been 2 weeks already since Carly Rae has come home. She is growing so fast. Today's weight is 21.5 pounds. That is approximately 10 pounds in 2 weeks!!! She started "school" with Greg a week ago. He is teaching her to sit, stay, come, and fetch. Carly is obedient when she wants to be. :)
She is still having accidents in the house. She is obviously confused about what the green grass is for outside! She will squat right in front of us and pee while looking at us with her sweet face. Plus, she will have an accident right after coming in from the outside. We are taking some of the blame for not putting her in the kennel enough. So now she spends more time in the kennel during the day. The GOOD news is that she is sleeping through the night. She may get up at 5:30am to potty and then will go back to bed for another hour or two. :) We broke the cardinal rule and let her sleep in the bed at night. She loves it...and we do too.
Here are some pics of the big girl.
We LOVE our Carly Rae
Up at 5:30am makes me tired!
Announcing a new addition:
We have found the new addition to our family. She was born February 6, 2011 the smallest pup (in the pink collar above) but she has already out grown most of her brothers and sisters. The kids named her Carly Rae Hansen. When hunting she will be called "Car" The kids choose "Rae" as her middle name because they felt it was a family name. In our family we have Uncle Ray, Issabella Ray, and Desi Ray (Grandma's dog). We decided to go with a different spelling, just to be different.
We are surprising Jack and Rylie Jane next week as we take a journey to Menominie, Wisconsin to meet Carly Rae. This will begin the next chapter of our lives. It's been 14 years since we have been through the puppy stage. We were blessed that Mocha Jo was such a great dog, companion, and friend.

What a WEEK!
What a week we have had! Carly Rae has gained 4 pounds in a week. She is growing fast and we want to keep her little. She is playful and at times crazy. I think she misses her brothers and sisters as playmates. Desi has been a good playmate but she leaves tomorrow. Carly Rae has met the other dogs in the neighborhood but is too small to play in their "club" yet. Carly picks up everything in her mouth and loves to attack moving feet. Mornings are fun when she tries to take my sock off while I am walking up the stairs with my coffee! The potty training thing is still not going well. Since the weather has been so nice she is outside a lot running around. But to no avail, she still goes in the house. New carpet is in our future!

A good night.
Last night was a lot better than the night before. We used a wire crate and moved her into our room. She whined for just a bit and then would settle in with a huff. She was up at 11:30pm,1:50am, and 5:30am. Not bad for the second night!
She met the school rabbit, Jessie, today (see picture below). At first she thought it was a toy and then it looked like her hunting instincts kicked in.
We are having a lot of fun with Carly. We take her outside all the time and run around with her. I am so glad the weather is getting nicer. She plays hard and takes frequent naps.
I added new pictures below.

Welcome home Carly!
Today we met Carly Rae and her family. We were greeted by Carly's Mom, Tikka and her brothers and sisters. It was great to see Carly play with her Mom and siblings. Carly has been raised with a great breeder family. They were great and so detailed. She was very loved.
We had a quiet ride home. Carly slept most of the way. We stopped 3 times on the way home for a potty break....we can't blame that all on Carly Rae.
Jack has been saving his money to purchase "stuff" for the new puppy. So, on the way home we stopped at PetCo and bought new toys, bowls, and spot cleaner.
Carly Rae met most of her extended family today. She met her Grandma Bev, Grandma Barb, and Papa. We had a family party tonight and brought her with because we didnt want to leave her at home alone. People were holding her and she would just fall asleep. She is so sweet.
She had many potty accidents tonight but everytime we let her outside she goes potty. So she will learn.
She went right into her crate tonight and is sleeping like a baby.
I am crossing my fingers she sleeps for awhile.

Carly Rae here we come!
The car is packed and we are on our way to pick up our new puppy. We told the kids and they are so excited! Carly Rae's infection is getting better so she is coming home.
Angie from Echomound Kennels has done an outstanding job keeping us informed and sending us progress pictures along the way. We have watched Carly Rae grow bigger and braver in the last 4 weeks. We are so thankful that Carly Rae is coming from such a great home. Carly has been around kids and other dogs since she was born.
11 hours and counting Carly Rae.
See you soon.

Waiting for Carly Rae
We were hoping to pick up Carly Rae tomorrow but she developed an infection. Her vet diagnosed her with a UTI and put her on antibiotics. Our vet encouraged us to wait 72 hours after the antibiotic starts, just to make sure the infection goes away. We are crossing our fingers and saying many prayers that this infection goes away and we can pick her up on Friday.
